Improves Flexibility & Mobility: Lengthens muscles, allowing joints to move through their full range, which is essential for daily tasks and physical activities.
Prevents Injuries: Flexible muscles are less prone to tears and strains, especially when tight muscles are suddenly stretched during exercise.
Reduces Pain & Stiffness: Alleviates discomfort from tight muscles (like hamstrings or hip flexors) and can help with lower back pain.
Enhances Performance: Enables muscles to work more effectively, improving athletic performance.
Boosts Circulation: Increases blood flow to muscles, delivering nutrients and aiding recovery.
Relieves Stress: Releases physical tension, promotes relaxation, and provides a moment for mindfulness, improving mood and reducing stress.
Improves Posture: By keeping muscles balanced and strong, it helps support proper posture.
Stretching and Fascia
Most of the pain my clients face are from tight, adhesive fascia. Muscles move the bones. Tight muscles/fascia, limit range of motion; this can be painful. Even without trying to move, sometimes an adhesion alone, particularly in a spot you wouldn’t normally move, may cause pain. Knee pain, shoulder pain etc are likely a cause of pain do to stiffness in the muscle/fascia-restricting joint movement. Again, this can occur away from the joint, such as a knot.
Without stretching, muscles shorten and become tight, limiting movement and increasing the chance of injury when muscles are suddenly called upon. Regular stretching, even for a few minutes daily, supports muscle health, improves function, and promotes both physical and mental well-being, making it a vital part of a healthy routine
